Call Your Girlfriend- Robyn

When I first heard this song on SNL months ago, I thought, WTF?  But I think that’s what’s awesome about Robyn. Well and of course how much fun she has dancing! It played at the end of this show I was watching and now its stuck in my head and I thought I’d share

Essence

Call your girlfriend
It’s time you had the talk
 Give your reasons
 Say it’s not her fault
But you just found somebody new
Tell her not to get upset, second-guessing everything you said and done
And then when she gets upset tell her how you never mean to hurt no one
Then you tell her that the only way her heart will mend is when she learns to love again
And it won’t make sense right now but you’re still her friend
And then you let her down easy
Call your girlfriend
It’s time you had the talk
Give your reasons
 Say it’s not her fault
But you just met somebody new
Don’t you tell her how I give you something that you never even knew you missed
Don’t you even try and explain how it’s so different when we kiss
You tell her that the only way her heart will mend is when she learns to love again
And it won’t make sense right now but you’re still her friend
And then you let her down easy
Call your girlfriend
It’s time you had the talk
Give your reasons
Say it’s not her fault
But you just met somebody new
And now it’s gonna be me and you
And you tell her that the only way her heart will mend is when she learns to love again
And it won’t make sense right now but you’re still her friend
And then you let her down easy
Call your girlfriend It’s time you had the talk
 Give your reasons
Say it’s not her fault
Call your girlfriend
It’s time you had the talk
Give your reasons
Say it’s not her fault
But you just met somebody new

a lil bit of my weekend inspiration

Lace….

So i just realised that so far none of my posts have included anything about Music. About hiphop…which is very ironic because i live and breath music…The odd thing is i find myself rather clueless and with no idea as to how to write about this particular subject..how do i write about something i love so much? where do i start? do i critique? Do i write on what i’m listening to this month? this week? how do i do this exactly? Not sure. Maybe i’ll find my niche, will find a way to explore this boundless subject. But for now, i’ll stick with my weekly playlist.

I have a friend i always tease about his taste in music. I call him a  “music groupie”, mainly because he never bothers to listen to an entire album and determine for himself which particular tracks are his favourite. He just goes with whatever seems to be in vogue and is getting airplay on the radios and music channels….If you fall in  this category,do try to change, will you? It’s a huge tragedy.

The past few weeks it’s been mostly Drake’s “Take care” and Rihanna’s “Talk that talk” in the limelight”.. and i really do like them. They’re pretty good. The thing i realise about Drake’s music is it grows on you…you might not like a particular song on your first listen…but u listen another time when defences are low and bam! this dude ropes you in…at least that’s what his music always does to me.

But my main inspiration has been “Kendrick Lamar’s” Section 80. Never bothered with it before , but when i decided to, i was “in love”…..i  love conscious underground rappers especially when they’re intelligent. The kind that have you thinking and evaluating your life…That’s the mark of a true artiste ….They move you…Thing i love bout this guy is, He’s an old soul, He doesn’t seem bothered by people’s opinions or expectations. Just his art. He’s witty,His voice is sexy… Especially love how he broaches the subject of women….Even when he gets a bit vulgar, he still manages to put a smile on my face.( no make-up, Tammy’s song, Keisha’s song ) anyway will write a piece on Kendrick’s music later but for now, from these 3 albums…here’s what i’ve been inspired by

1. Kendrick Lamar – Buried Alive

2. Kendrick Lamar- No make up

3.Drake – Shot for me

4.Kendrick Lamar- Hiii Power

5.Drake ft  The Weeknd –  Crew Love

6. Kendrick Lamar – the spiteful Chant

Don’t You Remember

This song always brings tears to my eyes……..Do we ever really forget ?

Essence

When will I see you again?
You left with no goodbye, not a single word was said,
No final kiss to seal any seams,
I had no idea of the state we were in,

I know I have a fickle heart and bitterness,
And a wandering eye, and a heaviness in my head,

But don’t you remember?
Don’t you remember?
The reason you loved me before,
Baby, please remember me once more,

When was the last time you thought of me?
Or have you completely erased me from your memory?
I often think about where I went wrong,
The more I do, the less I know,

But I know I have a fickle heart and bitterness,
And a wandering eye, and a heaviness in my head,

But don’t you remember?
Don’t you remember?
The reason you loved me before,
Baby, please remember me once more,

Gave you the space so you could breathe,
I kept my distance so you would be free,
And hope that you find the missing piece,
To bring you back to me,

Why don’t you remember?
Don’t you remember?
The reason you loved me before,
Baby, please remember me once more,

When will I see you again?
